I Built A Productivity System For My Creative Work, So Should You

The most creative work benefits from extended periods of focus rather than from checking items off a list. However, many productivity techniques offered in books and online are focused on the latter.

I’ve tried most of these systems, also some homemade ones, but they always seem to fall apart after a while and become more work to maintain than the benefits they provide.

I needed a straightforward approach that would regularly lead me into extended periods of intense concentration.

Some patterns have emerged after decades of experimentation with various systems. Even if a system didn’t work, I could always find parts that did.

I’ve put together a plan that works for me by combining only the components that have produced positive results.
